These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Civlso (the "Service"), operated by Denad Labs LLC ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
Civlso is an educational study and practice tool for engineering topics. It includes Read pages, practice and homework, the Learning Coach, FE Exam Studio, labs, games, videos, Collaborate rooms, Research Studio and Plugin OS. It is designed to help you build and check your own understanding. It is not a substitute for professional engineering judgment, a licensed review course, or advice from a qualified Professional Engineer, and its outputs must not be relied on for real-world design, construction, or safety decisions. Labs, games and simulations simplify real behaviour for teaching.
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account or use the Service. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 13, we will close it and delete its data. You are responsible for the activity under your account and for keeping your credentials secure. An account is for one person. You can sign in with email and password or with Google. You must verify your email address before upgrading; when the usage system is on, newer accounts must also verify before their free allowance starts. Some demos on the public website can be used without an account. We may suspend an account for a set time, or close it, if these Terms or the Acceptable Use Policy are broken. You can appeal through Support or at help@denadlabs.com.
Pro is billed through our payment processor on a recurring monthly or yearly basis until canceled. You can cancel, resume, or switch between monthly and yearly in Settings; when you switch, our payment processor prorates the change. Semester Pass and Founder are one-time purchases. Semester Pass is temporary: it lasts 84 days from payment, does not renew, and covers up to 4 subjects you choose at checkout. Founder is lifetime access and is limited to a set number of purchases. If you upgrade from an active Semester Pass to Pro or Founder, the unused part of the pass is credited against the upgrade at checkout. If you buy Founder while on Pro, your Pro subscription is canceled once the Founder payment is confirmed. Prices are shown in the app before purchase.
Current plan limits, as the app applies them:
Subject access and usage supply are separate. When Civlso's unified usage system is active, the approved base policies are Free: 10 usage units per 120-hour window; Semester Pass: 30 units per 48-hour window; Pro: 40 units per 24-hour window; and Founder: unlimited metered usage. Metered actions include premium Learn, Examples and Practice sessions, Learning Coach responses, FE mock sessions and Coach reviews, research operations, premium games, collaboration sessions and some plugin sessions. Current balances, reset timing, and rollout status are shown in Settings.
When optional usage-credit packs are offered, they are one-time digital purchases that add to the purchased-credit balance on the account. The browser cannot choose the price or credit quantity. Purchased usage credits do not expire under the current policy unless a different term is clearly disclosed before checkout. See the Refund & Cancellation Policy for billing and reversal details.
FE Exam Studio's simulations, mock exams, drills, handbook practice, readiness scores, study plans, "Book the exam?" suggestions and debriefs are practice tools written by Civlso. They are not official exam material. Civlso is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by NCEES, which writes and runs the FE exam; we name the exam only to describe what Civlso helps you practise. A readiness score or simulation result does not predict your result, and we do not guarantee that you will pass any exam. Check the current exam specification, reference handbook and rules with NCEES.
The Learning Coach is an automated, rule-based tutor. Its feedback, hints and misconception flags can be wrong or incomplete, and it may misread a correct answer. Homework checks, practice checks and the Coach in Collaborate rooms compare your numbers with Civlso's answer key, which can also contain mistakes. Think for yourself, check important results independently, and tell us through Support if you find an error.
Rooms are for studying together. Only people with the room code can join. Rooms run for 2 hours and can be extended once by 1 hour. Anyone can mute another person on their own screen, and the host can remove people; a removed person can't rejoin that room for 24 hours. Everything you post (chat, drawings, notes on the board and decks you present) is seen by everyone in the room, and their browsers keep a copy for up to 7 days. Civlso does not store room boards or chat on its servers and cannot recover them. Use the Report button for problems: reports go to Civlso staff, who may act on them, including suspending accounts.
Plugins in Plugin OS are provided by Civlso. Unless a plugin saves into your Civlso Notes, its documents, decks and workbooks are kept in your browser on that device, not on our servers. If you clear your browser storage, they are gone, so download anything you want to keep. Some plugins use a metered session when the usage system is on, and some link to outside websites that have their own terms.
You agree not to misuse the Service. See the Acceptable Use Policy, which is part of these Terms.
The Service, including its content, problems, and code, is owned by Denad Labs LLC and protected by law. You receive a personal, non-transferable license to use it for your own study.
We respect intellectual property rights and respond to valid notices under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. If you believe content on Civlso infringes your copyright, send a notice to help@denadlabs.com including: a description of the copyrighted work, the location of the allegedly infringing material, your contact information, a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is unauthorized, and a statement made under penalty of perjury that the notice is accurate and that you're authorized to act on the copyright owner's behalf. If your content is removed and you believe that was a mistake, you may send a counter-notice with a similar statement, and we'll follow the process the DMCA sets out for restoring it. We may terminate accounts that are repeat infringers.
The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that it is error-free or that it will help you pass any exam.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Denad Labs LLC is not liable for any indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service.
If a disagreement comes up, contact help@denadlabs.com first — most things can be resolved directly, and both sides agree to try in good faith for at least 30 days before starting any formal proceeding.
If that doesn't resolve it, you and Denad Labs LLC agree that any dispute will be settled by binding individual arbitration rather than in court, under the Consumer Arbitration Rules of the American Arbitration Association. Either side can instead bring an individual claim in small claims court if it qualifies. There is no right to a jury trial, and disputes will be handled individually — neither side can bring a claim as a class action, consolidated action, or in a representative capacity, and an arbitrator can't combine more than one person's claims without everyone's consent.
You may opt out of this arbitration agreement by emailing help@denadlabs.com with the subject "Arbitration Opt-Out" within 30 days of first creating your account. If you opt out, disputes will instead be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Washington State, and both sides consent to jurisdiction there.
If any part of this section is found unenforceable, the rest of it stays in effect, and unresolved disputes will go to the courts described above instead.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
We may update these Terms. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
